I’m surprised how few people know of The New
Spirit of St. Louis and the $10 million X Prize. John Carmack has a fun
team and the Canadians are already selling
tickets, but Paul Allen’s favorite seems to be in the lead.

X PRIZE
Phi
My favorite number is 1.618033988749894848204586834365638117720309179805762862135448622705260462818902…
Back when I first learned of the Google
calculator, the first “magic constant” I tested for recognition was Phi. Sure, e is exponentially cool, and everybody loves pi, but Phi not only golden, but really, really irrational.
mediaARTS
Whatever happened to mediaARTS? The video wall still broadcasts away from the A.D. Brown building, but the memory
wall would be even better.

Holidays at the Apple Store
For late-November birthday and Christmas, dad got WiFi and iTunes tracks, mom got a Powerbook. Santa brought Kristan iBook RAM and an iTrip for her birthday iPod. I swear, though, I’m not an unromantic geek; he also brought pretty things.
Santa drives with the top down
Unseasonably warm weather today meant I got one last day of driving topless, while listening to my extensive playlist of nothing but Carol of the Bells.
Ichiban
Ichiban on Olive is a quaint little sushi place. I’ve only been twice, both recently, and had good experiences, although the usual rolls are a bit small and dull, the premium specials are typically much larger and tastier. Others who visit more often note that consistency is a concern, but they keep going back, […]
Smell this
Rare product plug: Target has big scented candles from Lamplight
Farms on sale, so I grabbed two to try out. Clove and Gingerbread are intoxicating.
Neither website lists them, so you’ll have to go sniff them yourself.
