Whatever happened to mediaARTS? The video wall still broadcasts away from the A.D. Brown building, but the memory

Hoosierweight
My father took me to the South Broadway
Athletic Club for Hoosierweight Boxing last night. It was quite an experience, culminating with Thomas Crone losing the World Championship title he won from organizer Steven Fitzpatrick Smith in Smith’s backyard.
Ichiban
Ichiban on Olive is a quaint little sushi place. I’ve only been twice, both recently, and had good experiences, although the usual rolls are a bit small and dull, the premium specials are typically much larger and tastier. Others who visit more often note that consistency is a concern, but they keep going back, […]
White Christmas
Sam Kashy officially made White
Christmas at the American Theatre an annual event yesterday. This year, the Gateway Men’s Chorus opened with a good program, and the cabaret seating and diverse crowd makes for an enjoyable time. I’m declaring this a tradition.
Giving
We just got back from shopping for the St. Patrick Center Christmas Sponsorship, which I learned of through the Residents Association, and I realized I hadn’t used my little soapbox to promote it. It’s probably too late this year, but if you live in St. Louis, please consider participating next year.

It’s great to experience a smokey restaurant where the smoke comes not from cigarettes but […]

Finally recognized as a real city, St Louis gets a http://stlouis.craigslist.org/.
Biorythms
I must remember not to drive in St. Louis during rush hour on overcast, rainy days. Something about the time of day and light level makes drivers into assholes and pedestrians suicidally stupid.
Loft envy
So this afternoon as I returned from cycling I ran into tourists wandering the halls of my building. They flocked around me like I was a taxidermy mount and queried about how I liked living downtown. It didn’t take long to realize that the Taste
of Downtown Living Tour must be in progress.
So, I […]
Wasabi!
The Wasabi sushi bar is open at 1228 Washington Ave. Despite the uninspired name, the sushi is excellent. The atmosphere is great, too, especially the chef’s enthusiastic greetings and farewells to guests from the bar in back. The maki rolls are small, but the bento boxes are gigantic. I’m dying to camp […]
