Week 2706

(Previous | Next)

I’m writing this from a lounge in the Detroit airport, on a very long layover towards Paris before I end up in Dubai at midnight…tomorrow. Hopefully I can get some sleep en route because the jet lag is going to be intense. I’m surprisingly calm about the actual work trip, mostly looking forward to meeting many people I have not yet seen in person, and creating some new shared understandings.

I am more stressed about travel logistics as I’m scheduled to get back just in time for Shannon’s birthday dinner. We paid too much for flu and covid shots earlier this week; hopefully this means I at least don’t get sick.

The coronation ball yesterday was a triumph for our artist Queen, who also got started painting her float. It’s also been great to catch up with so many New Orleans friends, and Kurt.

Finally we approved a proposal to get the house ready for us. It’s disappointing we spend so much time talking instead of watching work get done, but Kelly continues to provide some calm. If all goes according to plan, we ought to have at least the minimum prepared for move-in on our return.
