My “no distinction between publisher and consumer” definition of social media seems to have caused a little to-do locally.

Yesterday, shannon & friends celebrated her birthday and all things 1984 at the loft with music and video from the eighties and glowing helium balloons.

People began arriving by 19:00, and many did not leave until 2:00. About 70 cups were left lying about and nearly half of the 200 white and purple balloons had wandered home with guests.

8 years after the demise of my previous favorite band, I believe I’ve found their heir: Two Ton Boa opened for The Dresden Dolls, and I’m in love.

Yahoo forecasts a high temperature of 51° immediately followed by a low of 57°. At no time this weekend will it be 52°–56°.

Some quick thoughts from Seattle, WA:

People here aren’t afraid of each other. Much of the “feel” of this city seems to grow from that foundation.

There is a taxidermied dog at the SAM, sitting on a chair in a fairly obscure corner. A group of teenagers (from South Korea, I believe) streamed by it as they slithered through that corner to shortcut their tour. Watching them, one by one, startle at the sight of the dog is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in some time.
