Isolated for COVID-19
We were aware of COVID-19 in January but in an abstract “like SARS or H1N1” way. By March, we were concerned about it but not enough to cancel my birthday dinner.
By the 10th, I didn’t travel to the south. The area was beginning to isolate and our offices there were advising WFH. Instead, I went to the local office, and that was my last day at an office before the isolation measures were applied here. We still had our Dutch tutor visit on Wednesday, and Shannon went out on Thursday.
The evening of March 12th is when we first “stocked up” on some sundries. That’s when we really started thinking of ourselves as under self-imposed lockdown.
It was extra surreal to be start experiencing this in the afterglow of Mardi Gras and my birthday.
